Religion and Politics: Dancing On the Head of a Pin
Those who say religion has nothing to do with politics do not know what religion is. – Mahatma Gandhi
It has been said that two things which should not be discussed in polite company are politics and religion. It sometimes seems that in communities of faith that also applies. In this evening presentation, we will explore how Christian faith and political life are meant for one another even though they often do not “dance” comfortably together. We will use resources from scripture and tradition to see how these two dimensions of our common life can dance together. We may not resolve any of the thorny, difficult challenges we meet at the intersection of politics and religion, but we can discover that they belong together.
