The current Pennings Activity Center on the St. Norbert College campus—named after Abbot Bernard Pennings, O. Praem., the first abbot of St. Norbert Abbey—was both a Catholic (Pennings) and public (Nicolet) high school previously. FOX 11 reported that it has been added to the state and national registers of historic places. The national registry listing states that “Nicolet High School is now the west side’s only surviving pre-World War II public school building.”
