Make a Personal Retreat at St. Norbert Abbey

Sometimes we need to step away from the demands of daily life in order to listen more attentively to God.
The Norbertine Center for Spirituality welcomes individuals seeking time for prayer, silence, discernment, spiritual renewal, or rest. A personal retreat at St. Norbert Abbey offers the freedom to slow down and spend intentional time with God in a peaceful Catholic setting.
A Retreat Shaped Around What You Need
A personal retreat does not require you to participate in a scheduled NCS program. Your time may be structured or unstructured according to what you are seeking.
You might spend your retreat praying with Sacred Scripture, journaling, reading, walking the Abbey grounds, resting in silence, participating in the liturgical prayer of the Abbey, or simply allowing yourself the time and space to listen.

Enter the Rhythm of the Abbey
A personal retreat at the NCS takes place within the larger life of St. Norbert Abbey. Guests may join the Norbertine community for Mass and the Liturgy of the Hours according to the Abbey schedule.
The grounds and sacred spaces of the Abbey also provide opportunities for quiet prayer, walking, reflection, and rest.

Stay Overnight

Spiritual Direction During Your Retreat
Some retreatants find it helpful to meet with a spiritual director during their time at the NCS. Spiritual direction may be requested in advance and is subject to director availability.

Meals During Your Retreat
Guests making a personal retreat may arrange for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the Norbertine Dining Hall. Sharing in the rhythm of meals at the Abbey allows you to step away from the practical concerns of preparing food and remain focused on prayer, reflection, and rest during your retreat.
Our dietary services team can accommodate a variety of dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and pescatarian diets, as well as guests with the nine major food allergens. We ask that dietary needs and food allergies be shared with us in advance so that our staff can prepare appropriately.
When planning your personal retreat, simply let us know which meals you would like to include during your stay, and our staff will help make the arrangements.

Begin Planning Your Personal Retreat
You do not need to have your retreat completely planned before contacting us. Tell us what you are seeking and when you hope to come, and we will help you determine the next steps.
