The Camino Virtual Pilgrimage

Do you have The Camino on your bucket list? Are you worried that you might not get to check it off due to the COVID-19 pandemic? Now is time to virtually check it off! A program called The Conqueror has a website that virtually takes you on the Camino through France and Spain.

The Camino de Santiago Virtual Pilgrimage is an opportunity to make the 480 mile journey from Southern France to Santiago Compostela in Spain, traditionally known as the burial site of St. James, while remaining in the comfort and security of your local area. Using a well-developed website from The Conquerors, the virtual pilgrimage allows you to track your miles that are walked, biked, or run, using a number of electronic devices. Once you have accumulated enough miles to reach key destination points, photos, videos and GPS will transport you to the sites and allow you to experience the feeling of actually making the journey. Along the way, gather on three separate occasions with fellow pilgrims in your local area for faith sharing, prayer, and discussion. A celebration concludes the journey in November.

The goal of this 480 miles journey, starting in France and ending in Spain, is to grow spiritually and develop new and more fulfilling relationships with others. The journey can be made independently, with a friend, as a family unit, as a team of friends or co-workers, or in memory of someone, all while remaining in the comfort of your local community.

A pilgrim will need to average approximately 4 miles per day of walking/running/biking.
